Parenting in the Digital Age: Why I Built GetExtra Kids Audio Story Entertainment

We are living in a world where smartphones have quietly become a part of every corner of our lives. A few years ago, one smartphone in a family was enough. Today, almost every home has two or three devices. Along with adults, even small children now spend hours scrolling screens, watching short videos, playing games, and consuming endless digital content.

As a young entrepreneur and someone who closely observes this changing generation, one thing continuously disturbed me. Children are growing up with entertainment in their hands, but not always with meaningful content in their minds. Attention spans are shrinking. Creativity is fading behind screens. Conversations inside families are becoming shorter. Even sleep quality and focus are getting affected.


At one point, I asked myself a simple question:

“Can we completely remove smartphones from children’s lives today?”

The practical answer was no.

Technology is now part of modern life. Instead of fighting smartphones, I believed we should create a positive replacement inside the smartphone itself. That thought became the foundation of GetExtra.

GetExtra was created as a kids audio story entertainment and family-friendly audio platform designed to make digital consumption more meaningful, educational, and imaginative. Instead of endless visual scrolling, GetExtra encourages children and families to listen, imagine, think, and learn together.

Growing up in India, many of us experienced the magic of bedtime stories from grandparents. Those stories carried emotions, values, culture, history, courage, spirituality, and life lessons. Today’s generation is slowly losing that experience because entertainment has become fast, visual, and addictive.

I wanted to bring back the power of storytelling in a modern digital form.

That is why GetExtra focuses on parenting-friendly audio stories, mythology, inspiring personalities, self-growth stories, moral stories for kids, cultural wisdom, and motivational journeys. Audio has a unique power. It does not trap children’s eyes on screens. It activates imagination. It allows kids to enjoy entertainment while also developing listening skills, creativity, focus, and emotional connection.

For parents, GetExtra can become a healthier digital alternative compared to constant screen exposure. Children can listen to stories while resting, traveling, drawing, or before sleeping. Instead of passive scrolling, they experience active imagination.

For me, GetExtra is not just a startup. It is an attempt to create healthier digital habits for the next generation.

I strongly believe the future of parenting and digital entertainment should not only capture children’s attention, but also help build personality, values, thinking ability, emotional strength, and cultural awareness. If technology is shaping society, then creators also carry the responsibility to shape technology in the right direction.

As someone from Maharashtra and from a humble background, I have seen how powerful technology can become when used with purpose. Through GetExtra, my mission is simple:

To transform smartphones from distraction machines into platforms of learning, imagination, and positive audio entertainment for children and families.

The digital world is growing rapidly. The real challenge now is not stopping technology, but guiding it in the right direction.

And GetExtra is my small step toward that future.
